We implement, optimize and operate our platforms. We also provide the technical platform that enables our customers to meet, stream, date and connect with others. Millions of users trust our products, and therefore our engineering, to make meaningful connections in their lives.
Our division is made up of three main parts. One part is responsible for our matchmaking brands Parship, ElitePartner and eharmony, the second part implements and operates our social dating brands LOVOO, Tagged, MeetMe and Skout and the third is responsible for live streaming. We work in cross-functional engineering teams. Within the teams we set goals and identify opportunities to help us achieve them.
We have several cross-functional teams developing features that support our customer needs and business goals, as well as specialist teams looking after our development and live environments. Each team is supported by a Product Manager and one of our Agile Coaches or Scrum Masters and encouraged to refine their own processes.
Our teams can act quickly and independently. We often code in pairs and encourage collaboration across programming disciplines, which leads to high quality code and helps spread knowledge around the team. In our day-to-day work, teams either practice Kanban, focusing on the flow of work and getting things done, or they practice Scrum with a concrete sprint goal. We collaborate between teams by holding meetings for knowledge sharing, teaching, collective decision making and coordination. Quite a few of our teams have members working from overseas and have adopted a very remote way of working, but with regular check-ins and occasional physical get-togethers.
Our engineering department is committed to agility, pragmatic problem solving and a strong focus on quality and sustainability.
We pride ourselves on our agile approaches, from self-organised teams and team-driven architecture to a self-managed training budget. We foster a ‘no blame’ culture in our department and believe that making mistakes is both inevitable and a great learning opportunity. Quality assurance and sustainability are integral to our processes, ensuring that we deliver solutions that are both robust and adaptable to future needs.
We work in Hamburg, New Hope PA, Dresden and Berlin. In Hamburg we have a lot of people working on our matchmaking brands. In Dresden, most people work on the social dating brands (LOVOO, MeetMe, Tagged, Skout). In New Hope we focus on shared services for all platforms as well as live streaming. Thanks to the remote work, all locations have representatives across the globe.
There are a number of opportunities for career development within the company. One way to broaden your horizon is to move to a new brand that uses a different technology stack.
