Discovering new singles and cool locations for dates, meeting up even more easily and safely and increasing the chances of something serious – this is what the Date Map, the latest feature of the dating app LOVOO, is designed to do from now on. It shows at a glance where a particularly large number of app users are currently located and where exciting places for dates are waiting in the area.
For 11 years now, people have been looking for and finding new contacts, dates and, above all, love via the dating app LOVOO. Chatting, flirting and meeting up – this has always been possible with LOVOO. Now there is a new feature, the Date Map, which makes it even easier to discover exciting places for dates and invite your match there directly thanks to a newly developed interactive map.
“After the end of the coronavirus lockdown, people are being drawn outside again. Online dating is a good way to meet new people, but users also want to meet up in real life. With the Date Map, we are now launching a feature that allows our users to get cool and safe locations for dates in the area at a glance and invite their matches there directly with one click,” explains Brad Richards, CPO and Managing Director of LOVOO.
Singles want real dates – the Date Map helps them find them
Online dating has become increasingly commonplace and widespread in recent years, across all age groups. “We see that many singles looking for a relationship see online dating as a valid option. They want real dates and a simple user experience that is as stress-free as possible. That’s why we have developed the Date Map so that it is intuitive to use and increases the chances of dates on both sides. After all, suggesting a date or accepting an invitation shows that there is genuine interest. At the same time, the inhibition threshold for inviting someone out is lowered and the search for a suitable location is shortened,” says Richards.
The Date Map is integrated into the current version of the LOVOO app and can also be used in the free basic version. The locations are selected for their suitability for dating and safety and are constantly being expanded. “The map should be fun, easy to use, lead to success and combine the advantages of the digital and analog worlds,” says Richards.
See what’s going on in the area with the heat map
The Date Map now also has a heat map, which displays the density of other potentially suitable users in the area using a color scale. This makes it even easier to see how many potential matches are in your own and other locations. It is detailed enough to get a good picture, but the localization and display are deliberately kept in such a way that no individual user locations can be identified. “That was clear to us from the outset: the feature provides a good overview for everyone who uses our app, but no individual people can be located,” says Richards.
… and a pizza on top!
An initial pilot project with a renowned pizza franchise company shows just how great the potential of the Date Map is, with LOVOO users not only receiving safe and exciting dating spots via the Date Map, but also a pizza to share and drinks if they choose one of the participating pizzerias for their first date. The first test run took place in the Munich area, and further locations and partners are now to be added step by step.
“The campaign was very well received and the opportunities for cooperation are enormous. We still have lots of ideas. I think this is the future of online dating: easier and safer dating in exciting locations and ultimately meeting new singles in the area who really suit you and are genuinely interested. And if you end up having your first pizza on the house together, that’s one more reason to look forward to your next date,” says Richards.
