Over 700 million people worldwide live without access to clean drinking water. The “Water is a human right” campaign by the Hamburg-based association Viva con Agua draws attention to this on World Water Day on March 22. This time together with Parship, one of the leading dating apps in Germany. Parship and Viva con Agua are campaigning for the good cause on nine giant posters in Hamburg, Berlin and Cologne. They say: Just like love, water is for everyone.

The message “Love and water for all” is printed on a total of more than 560 square meters above Hamburg’s Reeperbahn, Cologne’s Ehrenfeldgürtel, at the Boulevard Berlin shopping center and at six other locations in the three metropolises. For this year’s World Water Day, Viva con Agua had been looking for a partner to create an eye-catching giant poster on the huge surfaces. Co-founder Michael Fritz’s public appeal on LinkedIn quickly lead to a match in the Hamburg neighborhood – with Parship. The dating app and advertising icon, one of the largest out-of-home advertisers in Germany, is sponsoring and designing the campaign for the giant poster provider PoolOne.

Water and love – energies that connect everyone

“For over 20 years, our Parship brand has been bringing people together – and for almost as long, our friends and neighbors at Viva con Agua have been working tirelessly to provide as many people as possible around the globe with the most basic of all nutrients: drinking water,” says ParshipMeet CEO Marc Schachtel. “I think it’s great that we can now work together for a good cause. It is a great honor for us to be able to support Viva con Agua’s campaign for this year’s World Water Day. We are united by the conviction that both love and water are for everyone – and therefore make a perfect match.”

“For this year’s World Water Day, we are once again using all available communication channels to raise awareness of the human right to clean drinking water, because water is life. In order to maximize the impact of this message and reach as many people as possible, we need strong partners,” explains Katharina Gerland, Managing Director of Viva con Agua de Sankt Pauli e.V. “Our thanks go to Parship and PoolOne, without whom a poster campaign of this impressive size would not have been possible.”

The posters will be displayed at the following locations in Hamburg, Cologne and Berlin from March 15 to 31:

  • Berlin – EKZ Boulevard Berlin / Schildhornstraße
  • Berlin – Wilhelmsruher Damm 247 / Wittenau subway station
  • Köln – Bonner Straße / Raderberggürtel
  • Köln – Ehrenfeldgürtel 138 / Subbelrather Straße
  • Hamburg – Ottensen (Bahrenfelder Str.)
  • Hamburg – City Süd, Nordkanalstraße
  • Hamburg – St. Georg (Hauptbahnhof)
  • Hamburg – Hoheluftchaussee
  • Hamburg – Reeperbahn

PoolOne ensures maximum sustainability in production: the motifs are printed on PVC-free, upcyclable giant posters, all processes are designed to minimize CO2 emissions and other emissions are offset accordingly.

In Hamburg, the home city of both Viva con Agua and Parship, the campaign will receive additional reach through digital inventory from outdoor advertiser Ströer. On March 22, 165 public video city towers will be showing 10-second spots throughout the day to mark World Water Day.
