Online dating today is often described as superficial. Singles decide whether they like a person or not based on photos. Yet two out of three singles in Germany expect members on dating apps to look at their profile content*. After Parship initiated a movement for more appreciation in dating two years ago, the dating app is now even redefining its matching.
Parship, founded in 2001, is a pioneer of online dating in German-speaking countries. Our special feature: a matching process based on a scientific personality test supports members in their search for a suitable person. More than 1.2 million lovers and over 250,000 Parship weddings are the result. Now Parship wants to encourage its members to take an even closer look at the person behind the profile with a fundamental innovation in the contacting process and other new functions. The prerequisites for a match are the right vibe and genuine interest in the characteristics of the other person.
An overview of the options for making contact:
Vibe Check
On many dating apps, members “swipe” to exclude or include other singles in their shortlist (also known as “swiping”). Parship works differently: with a swipe, users are not taken to the next user profile, but to more detailed information about the person in question. The new “Vibe Check” playfully shows similarities and profile highlights that connect the two members at a glance – a quick and easy way to check whether the vibe with a person might match, regardless of basic information such as photos, profession, age or the profile photo.

Like&Chat
If Parship members are interested in someone, they can react to a profile area of the other person that particularly appeals to them by sending a Like and optionally a message. A match is only created when the other person reciprocates the reaction and also sends a Like to a profile area of the other member. Members are then automatically taken to the chat area where they can exchange ideas and get to know each other better. In short: Matching on Parship is based on genuine interest in the personality traits and characteristics that distinguish the other person.

A different kind of matching
Matching at Parship combines two key approaches to help singles find someone who really suits them in an appreciative environment:
- As before, members receive concrete support in their search for a partner through the scientifically based personality test and the resulting matching score, which indicates how well two singles fit together based on their relationship-relevant personality traits.
- In addition, Parship now encourages its members to get to know the person behind a profile before making a match. Members therefore not only make a conscious decision about who they get in touch with – but also why. All Parship users can decide for themselves who they would like to get to know better.
This is an advantage, and not just for online dating: personality tests with matching scores, vibe checks and Like&Chat are features that also make it easier and more meaningful to make contact when meeting someone (for the first time) in real life. It’s the vibe that counts.
The step-by-step guide to making contact with Parship:
1. Let’s get started with a Like
In a member’s profile, tap on content that you like or use the heart symbol in the Vibe Check to send a Like.

2. Make a Like more personal with a message
Make your Like even more personal by sending a message. Do you have something in common? Do you find a hobby particularly exciting? The new feature turns every Like into the start of a conversation.

3. Be happy about a match and start your chat
As soon as the other person has also sent you a Like, you have a match. From now on you can write to each other in the chat and get to know each other better.
